"Up and coming, lively connected neighborhood."
I go to Pratt Institute and have lived on Willoughby Ave for almost a year now. I find it to be a wonderful medium from the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Ave, and the more quite neighborhoods of lover Clinton Hill. I understand some people concerns about the safety of living in Brooklyn and the past crime problems of Clinton Hill and the close by Mrytle Ave. But I have never had a problem and I find that if you have some simple street smarts it is an excellent place to call home. I don't usually go out alone at night and I think that has something to do with it. If you drive everyone where I don't see you having a problem for the most part though. Everyone I have encountered in the Clinton Hill neighborhood, and particularly on Willoughby have been friendly and respectful. Willoughby Ave is one way and has a bike path which is great because I love biking around and this just makes it that much simpler and safer. The street is always kept very clean and during snowstorms I have found it to be well swept. If you don't have a car there is the great car service called New Bell that is right around the block on Myrtle. Willoughby Ave cuts right into Fort Greene Park and that makes for very easy access to everything the park has to offer. Overall, I have found living on Willoughby to be perfect for my first time living in New York, (I am a California native) and would love to find an apartment on the street, (as it is close to Pratt) but that can be tricky because apartments in the immediate area are rare.
