"Fairly decent little college neighborhood"
I won't lie and say that this is the best street in all of San Francisco. However, as a student at SFSU it's pretty good. San Francisco state is about a ten to fifteen minute walk depending on which part of the street you live on, and there is also, I believe, a smallish catholic school just up a little ways. The apartments aren't the fanciest in the world, but they're nice, and have a good set up.
For the most part the street is fairly quiet, all be it, occasionally weekend nights can be a bit loud, it is, after all, right next to a university, and houses many university students.
However, there are also a fair amount of families, and retirees living along Buckingham way as well.
Also located just behind the street is the Stonestown mall, which is convenient for shopping. Also the mall has an Olive Garden and a Chevy's in addition to the food court for eating out, and a small indie theater.
All in all, it is a neighborhood that I rather happy with.
