"Rockwall is a city of young growing families."

Rockwall was a small farming community about 24 miles east of Dallas, but has now grown into a suburban lake front community nestled on the eastern shores of Lake Ray Hubbard with a population of over 30,000. A lot of the housing communities are set up very much like a small town environment. With the increase in population you have new neighborhood schools and new neighborhoods being developed on both sides of the old downtown area.I know after moving from the city my kids enjoyed playing and riding their bikes in the quieter neighborhood streets. The houses are built on larger plots of land than in some suburban communities that are north of Dallas, giving that more open area feel to the neighborhoods.

Rockwall's school district exceeds state standards with over 90% being either classified as having exemplary or recognized status by the state of Texas. My experience of having a child that has gone through two different schools so far,is that the teachers and administrative support staff seem very positive about the children. The PTA's seem strong as there are a fair number of stay at home moms in two parent family to be involved in the organizations and there are always many parents and grandparents at the school activities I have attended.

The main large road through town, State Highway 205 or Goliad, is now being remodeled from a two lane very congested road to a six lane within the next couple of years. This should eliminate a lot of the complaints I have heard about the traffic bottle necks through the quaint old time square downtown.

Rockwall is in it's own county , separate from the Dallas Area Rapid Transit, and is not a part of that Public Transportation agency. There are some park and rides in the neighboring Rowlett and Garland, but not conveniently in Rockwall. There are few apartments , as this area mainly has single family type neighborhoods.
