"One of Oakland's Best Kept Secrets..."
A new resident and home owner in Maxwell Park, I'm quickly learning this area is one of Oakland's best kept secrets... The rolling hills provide a nice back drop to the neighborhood and offers views from many of the homes. There is a great sense of community and pride in this small east Oakland enclave. There are several block parties throughout the year, and all of our neighbors are very friendly. The neighborhood is very diverse and we have neighbors that have lived in the area from a year to 25 years plus. It is a great for professionals, new families and singles, as its close to the freeways or a 5 minute bus/car ride to Fruitvale Bart. Also, because its perched next to 580 and near 880, we find that we are a 5-15 minute ride to most everything we need - grocery stores, shopping centers, restaurants, gyms and nightlife. And, commuting to downtown Oakland or San Francisco is very easy and goes by quickly. If you like to do things on foot, the neighborhood is very walkable, and there are a couple shops for basics including a Walgreens, dry cleaners, donut shops, taquerias, and some restaurants on High Street. I would highly recommend anyone looking to settle in Oakland to check out this amazing neighborhood.
