"Living in Virginia Beach"
Located in the southeastern section of Virginia, Virginia Beach is the most populated city in the state with numbers approaching 450,000. The city is best known as a resort with it's 38 miles of shoreline, 2 mile boardwalk, and hundreds of "things to do" along the coast. There are several state parks for hiking and exploring. One of which is First Landing Park, formally known to the locals as Seashore State Park, with nearly 2900 acres of fun. A few miles west you'll find Mount Trashmore, which was originally a mountain of trash (imagine that!). This behemoth was created decades ago and today is a great place to take the kids for flying kites or exercise. It's become a major staple of the city, looming over I-264 on your way to the beach. The city is also listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest bridge-tunnel and pleasure beach in the world.
Other main attractions include the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, the Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater and the Town Center. Established in 2002, the Virginia Beach Town Center (or Downtown Va. Beach) is a $300 million center which contains a number of hotels, shops, and restaurants. It's located on Virginia Beach Blvd. across from Pembroke Mall.
Regarding homes for sale in Virginia Beach, there is always something for everyone. With the many lakes, tributaries, and of course the ocean, buyers definitely have a wide variety of waterfront properties to choose from. Also, there are many golf course communities in the city for those wishing to live on or near the 1st tee box. Currently the city offers an abundance of listings ranging from $130,000 one bedroom condos to multimillion dollar mansions. If you're looking to buy a home somewhere in the middle, there are, in fact, many neighborhoods in Virginia Beach where you can find detached single family homes starting at around $200,000.
