"Quiet alternative to the Fan"

Close to VCU, this relatively quiet street is an excellent alternative to Fan living for older and/or more serious students--lower cost, lower crime, fewer parties, better parking. The 000-500 blocks are quiet, tree-lined and full of historic architecture. Young families, students and 20-somethings predominate, but as house are rehabbed, more single-occupancy owners are moving in.

Downsides: not much in the way of entertainment, restaurants or services are within walking distance. As the Broad Street corridor is rehabbed, this is changing, but slowly. The few restaurants within walking distance are excellent, though.

This is an excellent choice for those relying on Richmond's incredibly bad public transportation. Just about every bus that goes through downtown goes within walking distance of this neighborhood.
