"Really a pretty good place to live."
While this part of the street is close to the state university it isn't all party and trash. There are indeed many homes with students living in them and apartments but there are also many families in the area too. For the most part this is a quiet area, quieter then I thought it would be considering how close to the school it is.
There is an elementary school only a couple of blocks away and of course the university is only five blocks away. Since I work there this makes it very conveniant. There is also a majof hospital that is only like 10 blocks away. A pretty good grocery store, not a huge one but pretty good and a couple of bars within walking distance.
Downtown is only a five to three minute drive with even more to choose from in the way of restrautants and some different night life and an old theatre. There's a soccer field on the other side of the block that runs most of the street on that side. Makes for viewing some great games and also sunsets and storms. The neighbors I do know are pretty friendly though I don't know many.
Because there are students in the area there are occassionally loud cars and some folks driving fast but its not the norm. There is the occassional louad party some where in the neighborhood but again not the norm.
I've lived in this general area for 12 years now. 6 since I bought the house I live in now. I used to rent an apartment just a couple of blocks from here for the other 6 years.
The only draw back perhaps are those soccer games. The bring a lot of traffic and noise that some folks might not like. They also take up a lot of the parking area when they are going on but for me its never been a big problem. I've heard some of my neighbors complain about it though and the noise. This only occurs though for a month or so in the spring/summer and another month or so in the fall.
This also can cause issues with trash blowing into your yard that was left at the soccer field. Still not a really big issue to me.
This is really a pretty nice place to live and I'm glad I've gotten the chance to say so. :-)
