"Morningside Heights: An oasis in Manhattan"
I have lived in Morningside Heights (Broadway between 122nd and La Salle) for more than a year and couldn't be happier about my choice. This is the second time I live in Morningside Heights, which is so different than 20 years ago when I was a student at Columbia University. I would't go beyond 118th street back then. Now it is very safe. Police and University Public Safety vehicles circle around the area at night. People walk dogs at night, sometimes even in the early morning (1 or 2 am). Columbia University manhattanville campus has made the area safer and more lively. West of Broadway between 125th and 122nd has so many nice restaurants and bars.
It is really an oasis and hidden gem of Manhattan. People walk dogs and stroll in Riverside park and bicycle along Hudson river. It is less cramped than upper west side. Parking is abundant. Subway and buses make commute easy. There are many families with young kids live here.
