Commonwealth Ave
"Nice wide street with friendly neighbors and a great neighborhood restaurant"
Commonwealth Street is a great wide walking street with sidewalks on both sides for the most part. The traffic has to slow down because low speed bumps have been installed which are very helpful The street has a great neighborhood restaurant and is within walking distance of great boutique shops, holistic health, yoga and massage places, as well as a great variety of restaurants.

28th St South
"Great area for speciality shops and ethnic restaurants"
This street is packed full of great shops, including a toy store filled with imaginative choices, a speciality shop with a French flavor where you can find an unusual gift for that friend who presents a shopping challenge, to a fantastic cake shop. There are so many ethnic restaurants you feel like you could be overseas where all your favorite places come together. I highly recommend it.

South Randolph St
"Outstanding shopping and restaurant area!"
This street is part of the Village at Shirlington and includes some excellent shops, restaurants and even two live theaters, one for children and one which showcases pre-Broadway hits before they go on to New York. It is a great place to stroll and, weather permitting, eat outside. At Christmas it is a real treat with the lighted trees and decorations.
Fern St
"Great street for shopping and restaurants!"
This is a wonderful street, particularly where it intersects with Quaker Lane. It has a fantastic wine and cheese shop where the service is incredible. I always get great recommendations there. There is a good neighborhood restaurant and a bike shop. On the other side of the building there are more food places, an ice cream shop, a wonderful gift and card shop and a place where you can find great serious gifts.

Oval Dr
"Perfect cul de sac for kids to play. Lovely area."
Oval Drive is a very nice cul de sac in the Beverley Hills neighborhood. It is perfect for kids to ride bikes, play basketball and enjoy playing in a less busy area. Many of the houses have backyards but the kids seem to prefer the cul de sac. There are cars parked there so playing baseball might be tricky without hitting a car. The houses are quite nice and it is a quiet oasis.

"Wonderful street in a great neighborhood"
I live on the corner of Halcyon and North Overlook Drive. Halcyon is a great street. It has lovely green trees year-round and flowering trees in the spring. It has a great sledding hill which is enjoyed by the neighbors into late in the night on snow days. The street has a wonderful neighbor feel. When there was a power crisis that went on for days, the street had a party to grill up the food in everyone's freezer so it wouldn't spoil. There are some blind corners on the side between North Overlook and Old Dominion Boulevard so be careful if you are walking, although there are sidewalks.

"Nice residential street and great walking route"
Cameron Mills Road is a wonderful walking street, although I start at the beginning of its gentle upward slope. There is a sidewalk on at least one side for the entire length of the street. It is the site of two Churches, one elementary school and a firehouse. It has a very neighborly feel to it, as people often speak when they pass each other. It is very green and loaded with azaleas in the spring. There can be some traffic on this street so it pays to be careful.

North Washington St
"Great street for shopping and eating out"
This street is a great place to go to find good restaurants and stores. It is busy but there are sidewalks so it isn't a problem. Parking can be a problem if you drive to this location. You will want to park on a side street. It is particularly nice at the intersection with King Street.

Mansion Dr
"Quiet, leafy street with beautiful houses and a nice neighborly feel to it."
Mansion Drive is a great street which starts at Russell Road and ends at Virginia Avenue. Many of its houses are large and have very nice lots, a premium in Alexandria. The neighbors are friendly and there are sidewalks on both sides of the tree-lined street. The houses on one side back onto a large grassy area which becomes the playground for George Mason Elementary school.

Old Dominion Blvd
"Great street for walking and raising a family"
Old Dominion Boulevard is a wide neighborhood street which is great for walking because it has either sidewalks or a painted lane reserved for walkers, runners and bikers. The houses are all built in the 1940s or later and many have nice additions on them which are in keeping with the charm of the neighborhood. There is a wonderful Church at the intersection of Old Dominion Boulevard and Tennessee Avenue which has a great playground which is open to the neighborhood kids when preschool is not in session.

"Friendly neighborhood, wonderful for raising a family so we did!"
North Overlook Drive, located in a neighborhood called Beverley Hills, is a charming street. Its abundance of trees and lovely houses make it perfect for day and evening walks. Its hilltop location make it perfect for viewing the lights of the city and sledding on a cold winters' night.
