"Quiet wonderful neighborhood"

My friends bought a home here back in the 1980's, and it's a great neighborhood. It's very quiet, the houses are large, there are lots of trees and well maintained yards and it's the old part of Sunnyvale, which means it still exudes some style and grace. There are lots of restaurants and stores nearby, and it's a very safe neighborhood too. All in all, it's a great place for families, couples, or retirees.

"Nice houses but too much traffic"

S. Bernardo Ave between Fremont Ave and El Camino has some really nice houses, but since lots of locals use it as a shortcut when the freeway is backed up, the traffic is wicked a large part of the day. I used to drive to work this way for several years, and always saw lots of dead cats, dogs and squirrels, because people drive way too fast trying to beat the traffic up on the freeway. The neighborhood is well maintained and houses are nice, but the traffic is a major drawback.

"Nothing but apartments"

This street extending from El Camino to Evelyn Ave is nothing but a rabbit warren of apartment houses, duplexes, and cheap townhouses. It's overcrowded, the traffic is non-stop, and there's just no street parking in the evenings and on weekends at all. It's also really noisy, not only from traffic but because there are people wandering around outside all hours of the day and night.

"Quiet residential area"

I had a friend who lived on this street for ten years and I loved to visit because the neighborhood is so nice! I guess it's boring if you're young, but it's safe and quiet and clean and perfect for families and retired people. The houses are a bit larger on this side of Mathilda, and show a bit more individuality, like big wraparound porches or double driveways. All in all a very nice place to live.

"Beautiful old fashioned neighborhood"

Florence is a quiet old fashioned neighborhood with small tract homes that are well maintained. Its a quiet neighborhood, and it's within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. Plenty of on-street parking for your guests. The only draw back is that it would be nice if the City of Sunnyvale did a little better job of patching up the roads in this area. Other than that, it's a great place to live!

"Avoid at all costs!"

Ahwanee runs the gamut from industrial to residential, but the residential area is one step up from a slum. Overcrowded apartments, no parking, residents parking their vehicles on lawns, abandoned grocery carts. It's not pretty and it's not safe. Unless economic force you to look at this area, don't bother. There are lots of great areas in Sunnyvale that are infinitely better than this.

"Nice apartments at reasonable prices"

There is a lot of reasonably priced housing around and on the North Fairoaks Ave area. If you're being transferred to the area for your job, it would be worth your time to check it out. From single family homes to apartments and townhouses, it's a nice little area and not too crowded or noisy.

"Seedy, low-rent area."

Sandia Ave and the surrounding area has really gotten very seedy. I lived in the area 20 years ago, and it was a nice quiet little inexpensive neighborhood. Now it's turned into some kind of gang turf, and the houses and neighborhood are not maintained at all. It just doesn't even feel safe.

"Noisy and overcrowded"

Since the light rail was built out to this neighborhood, it's become noisy and overcrowded. There are a couple of nice mobile home parks in the area, but for the most part, it's industrial and not the safest area to be in at night. It improves as you walk towards Tasman and Great America Parkway.

"Quiet little place to open a small business"

Vaqueros Ave. is tucked away right off of Mathilda Ave and Maude. There is lots of industrial space for a small business looking for reasonably priced office space. You're also close to a small shopping center on the corner of Maude and Mathilda, with a grocery store and the inevitable Starbucks.
