"The yearly BBQ and the weekly neighborhood watch program make this an awesome neighborhood"
Lomita Heights is a very tight knit community which makes it an excellent neighborhood for family oriented people. One of the biggest celebrations every year is the Lomita Heights annual BBQ which tends to be held during the last week of September. I went to quite a few of those BBQ's with my family and they were always a good time. The housing market is quite lucrative and houses tend to be a little more upscale than in other areas of Santa Rosa. This neighborhood was a mom and pop type of neighborhood after WWII and has grown into a prosperous and respectable area. There is an excellent neighborhood watch program with weekly meetings that keeps the neighborhood safe for children. There are also a couple of small parks in the area with some semi-decent hiking trails. The roads haven't been redone since the late 90's and parts of them will probably be getting revamped in the next five years. This is a great neighborhood for families to raise their kids and enjoy the life of a tight and active community.
