"A nice city to raise kids"
Pickerington is a pleasant city. It is a suburb of Columbus, and it is known for having excellent schools. The schools consistently have gotten good ratings from the state of Ohio. I've always been impressed when I see how low their budget per pupil is; it tends to be one of the lowest in the area, but somehow they do a great job with the schools. I think it's because the teachers are especially dedicated.
There are a number of nice parks in Pickerington and a fair number of places to shop. In the old downtown area there are some smaller antique-type shops and on Hill Road there are a lot of "big" shops like Bed Bath and Beyond, Giant Eagle, and others.
The weather here is typical Ohio. Cold and snowy in the winter, hot and humid in the summer. Spring and Fall are both very nice, though Spring tends to be sort of rainy. It makes those Spring soccer matches kind of "interesting."
If I was looking to move to the Columbus area and I had kids and a relatively-limited budget, Pickerington would be one of the first places I'd look!
