"Great Immigrant history! Some names in the area are hard to pronounce."
So many of the small neighborhoods that make up cities around the Bay area in California all share one important trait and that is history. Many of the neighborhoods are relatively young. Mt. Eden is a typical neighborhood with middle class houses, apartments, sprawling highways, restaurants, and a post office. The passerby's would never guess that this area originally started off as a tourist destination then became a haven for the salt industries. Once the salt industries began to dry up the area became the neighborhood that it is pretty much known for today. Mt. Eden has a heavy European population especially of German and Danish origins. If you aren't from the area you will see many small businesses that are impossible to pronounce, even by the local standards. Those are the Danish names. J Arthur Freeway is the most familiar road in Mt. Eden because it leads to the outside world and passes right through on the edge.
