"Very friendly but limited"
People are outgoing and most are friendly. It's family-oriented, but also very boozy. Music scene and nightlife is wonderful for fans of Cajun & Zydeco, but there's not much beyond that. Housing seems overvalued both in terms of home prices and rent. Infrastructure hasn't kept up with growth and it's very car-centric. New bike lanes have often taken away a car lane, so the change is met with some hostility. There is some good local food, but the best food is casual - local favorites like boudin and boiled seafood. There isn't much in the way of swanky fine dining. No place you couldn't go to in shorts. No real art museum, but there is a monthly art walk and the University art museum does a few exhibits. The city also sponsors free outdoor concerts and there are some free music festivals too. The fortunes of the city are closely tied to the oil industry. The local utility company offers fiber Internet.
