"Not what it used to be"
71st street is not what it used to be when I lived there 4 years ago. The crime right has risen a lot, seems to be a lot of gang activity now. But people do still live there and there are a lot of good, hard working families. They have Marquette park which is about 5-6 blocks, it is a huge park that has a pond you can fish in, a golf course near by and also a lot of convenience stores in the area.
Public transportation is in walking distance and plenty of job opportunities. They have lots of restaurants and great mexican restaurants too.

"Good neighborhood to raise family in"
As a kid, this is where I grew up. I went to Kinzie Elementary school and also Kennedy high school which was 2 blocks from where I lived on 58th street. Public transportation is great, with bus stops on Narragansett street, where it stops through Ford City shopping mall and the Orange line which you can take to go down town.
The neighborhood is really friendly, with nice working family and kids. Lot's of stores on Archer Ave and also 63rd street where they had banks, super markets, restaurants. I would highly recommend this neighborhood for any family.

"Decent place to call home"
I lived on 59th street in 2004, back then the neighborhood was a little bit different than it is today. From what I remember, there was some crime activity, but not too bad. There was a catholic church right across the street, as well as a park 2 blocks walking distance. Lot's of stores within walking distance, you had a pizza place called the "Pizza Kitchen" that had delicious pizza for a great price, a little corner store where you could buy snacks and a laundry mat about 3 blocks away.
It was a great place to live with all the stores around close by. The only bad thing was it is on a busy street so you had to be careful with little kids because the traffic is so close. The good part was there is a school and park about 5 blocks down, and also it is about 9 blocks away from Midway Airport and the bus station
