"Westbury is written up by Houstonia Magazine as a top Houston Neighborhood"
Very close to the loop and Houston Medical Center, Meyerland, Bellaire and a 10 minute drive the the Galleria. Most of Westbury is zoned to top rated elementary schools and middle schools. Homes are well kept. Especially in Westbury 1 and 2. Westbury 1 is one stop light from 610. This means less traffic and less stop lights. Housing prices have been on the climb for 20 years. Most of Westbury doesn't flood. Close to restuarants in Meyerland, Bellaire and Galleria is a hop, skip and jump away. Like an urban area (especially Houston) it is a safe area with treelined esplanade streets with some sketchy areas not far away. Westbury borders Meyerland to the North, South Main to the East, Fondren Southwest to the South and the Braeswood area to the West. This area has a mix of wealth, middle class and low income. Single family homes, townhomes and apartments (some nice, some not great).
Pros
- Close to loop and not far from Galleria, Medical Center and Downtown
- Great elementary schools in the Meyerland Area
- Has a very neighborhood feel and people know each other
Cons
- bordering areas of urban crime
- main thoroughfare to Medical Center which means sirens often
