"Elizabeth Avenue: The Essentials"

This review is focused on 1324 Elizabeth avenue and applies pretty much to all of the outer streets; down to Maryland and back around as wide as to Dorothy.

The address, Heidi I and II Apartments: At the time it was a good deal. The rent was competitive, the neighborhood had tons of resturants and was two blocks from the college. All in all the complexes there are bland and border on ugly but were decently maintained places where few problems went unaddressed.

As time passed things went south; a cesspool for a pool, 6 managers in 2 years.. that sort of thing typical for low-middle range rentals owned by enormous property management companies. This is not a great area for kids though; too many drifters and punk kids (the kind who smoke crack, not the kind who smoke weed) make small children a no-no, so resist the VERY inexpensive rent for two and three bedrooms down there unless you are single... then it's game on; you won't be dissapointed.

No major pest problems at all on the block; roaches in some of the private areas up and down Elizabeth but not much inside. No scorpions in the area either.

"King Richard: The Basics"

Not a bad place. This street is lined with the 'old school vegas' apartments and condos. Rents are generally 5-600; don't pay more than 600... most are at least 1 bedrooms with 800 + square feet though condition can vary as most units are individually owned. Make sure electric is included (as is the case with many in the area). Generally a decent area, you got your tweakers but regular police beats keep it safe. The streets may as well be unpaved, and as a result the pest problem down there is insane. You have everything you can imagine (accept scorpions) and they are out all the time, though proper pest control keeps it reasonable. Cheap, comfy enough alternative to the nearby efficiencies on the other side of Swenson.

This place, between it's economy and closeness to everything would get four stars if it weren't for the horrific cocaroach/etc infestation the entire area suffers from. So if bugs aren't for you, s t a y away. If you don't care, this area is a good little deal.

"The Area: The Fountains at Flamingo"

The Good:

Spotless, immaculate, this address has a gym, as do most other complexes nearby. Very clean, only saw one bug in 6 months.

The Bad:

Infested with scorpions, and not just the usual one or two every now and again. This address has a known scorpion problem and apparently it is unresolvable.

The people can be somewhat loud depending on where in this huge complex you live. Don't live near the pool if quiet is your thing. The residents as of late are increasingly less savory as well.

Oh yes, then there is the deadly animal thing. Just stay away; rents are too high for the area anyhow.
