"Lots of fun"

This used to be super scary, but DC has brought a new spirit to this area, and things are changing fast! Atlas Theater is an amazing place, there are some wonderful music and hang out venues, and you the street car that is about to come in, you have easy access to Union Station. Don't go there alone, it is still pretty dangerous, but in a group you should be fine! :)

"Great value coming soon... For now, stay away!"

This is a good place to invest in if you have some extra cash. Buy something, it's cheap, you'll find renters. In a couple of years DC's gentrification will reach this area, and the river is right past the stadium, so gentrification can only go so far... In 7-8 years this area will be very nice residential, there are a few metro stations nearby, and the train is being put in right down H St.

"Gay Friendly, Great Food, and Pretty Shops"

This is a very fun street, with great bars, restaurants, and shops. People are very friendly, and you are right near Dupont and Columbia Heights, so lots to see and do within blocks. 17th St. is best to visit on the mornings of the weekends, just walk around and you'll get a great sense of the vibe of this place. Pricey to live in, but great to visit.

"Quiet, but a good investment for the coming 5-10 years"

This is a classic NE neighborhood, where you can still afford a house, even though you are very close to downtown. Lots of money coming in to Rhode Island Ave, as it has been admitted to the Great Streets initiative, so the city will be cleaning things up, bringing more interesting shopping, and changing the tone of the place. For now, however, it is quite forgotten due to the real estate plunge, and worth revisiting.

"Pretty and fun"

People in this neighborhood are very proud of the heritage of the area. Among your neighbors you will find interns, senators, ambassadors, consultants, all of DC's players. Traffic is a bit of a pain, and crime happens as it will anywhere in DC, but in general I think its a great street to live on and experience Capitol Hill.

"Close enough to greatness"

There are a number of renovated places to live on here, but be prepared to enter a gentrification nightmare! People are upset about being forced out by high prices. Prices have come down, but people are renting more these days and as rents have gone up, more people are being pushed out of this area. Anyway, there are good places to live, you are near Mount Pleasant, which is such a great neighborhood.

"Affordbale, near metro, up and rising"

Look, the prices aren't going to get any cheaper, and with this proximity to downtown DC, access to the Red Line, and a plethora of new construction to pick from, it really makes good sense to live here. You should go visit, it is safer than some alternative areas, and as RI Ave. improves, more services will be available.

"Up and coming"

This is a pretty crappy street that is on its way to greatness. I wouldn't live on it right now, but if you go a block or more East, you can find gorgeous mansions on huge lots for very reasonable prices. And Dupont is about 8 minutes away down RI Ave. This street is getting better all the time, I just hope the good people who have known about the area until now don't all leave! I do hope the garbage leaves though, there is plenty...

"Dirty, dangerous, and delightful!"

We lived here for about a year, it was a time of fun, fashion, interesting friends, and vomit on the sidewalks. There are advantages and disadvantages to living in areas that are teeming with bars. On the one hand you never have to go far for fun. On the other hand, parking is terrible, loads and loads of crime, and rents are crazy high.

"Quiet Street right next to great restaurants and culture"

This is a lovely street, near parks, fun, the National Mall. Transportation is great, as you are walking distance from two metro stations, and the busses go right in front of the house. If you were to walk a few blocks north, you get to H St, which is bustling with culture, theaters, bars, etc. Go South to Barracks Row for some more great restaurants, shopping, etc. A bit pricey, but safer than much of DC, and walking distance to all kinds of good stuff.
