"Walden is a beautiful area of Colorado"
Walden lies in the northern part of Colorado, just minutes from the Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge. This refuge is a great place for hunting, fishing, and wildlife observation. The main purpose of this refuge is to help maintain a habitat for birds that migrate, with an emphasis on waterfowl. The over 24,000 acres has wetlands and grasslands.
The town of Walden itself is small with only about 600 residents. Many of the residents work in accommodation and food services and the median household income here is $26,104. Over 20% of the town's residents are living below the poverty level. Housing here is also inexpensive and there are small homes as well as mobile homes. Of course, as with all areas of the mountains in Colorado you can find large acres of land with spectacular homes for well into the hundreds of thousands and millions, but here those homes seem to be a little less common. There are some charming little homes here that date back to the early 1900s.
For residents of Walden with children, the schools here rate very well. Students repeatedly perform well above average on state testing standards.

"Walden is a sweet Northern Colorado town"
Walden is centered in the green headwaters of the North Platte River valley that gently flows through North Park. There is the famous South Park in southern Colorado but there is also Central and North Park. Walden is the center of North Park, the large open space "park".
In Walden there is the the Walden -Jackson County Airport as well as Walden Reservoir just west of town. Just 20 miles south of the Wyoming border, Walden is a true and unique northern Colorado mountain town. Routt National Forest and wilderness areas surround Walden.
There are beautiful properties and views all around Walden, farms, ranches and neighborhood homes are available. There are country roads and remote, huge beautiful homes also.
