Eh, yes and no. It's way out of the way, so you will get way more space for your money in Washington Heights. And, traffic isn't terrible so you don't have to worry as much about pushy pedestrians or crazy cab drivers like you would further south in Manhattan. But, transportation in the neighborhood isn't easy, conveniences like grocery stores are few and far between, and most of the buildings are old. Old buildings mean that there aren't elevators so if you live on the 4th floor, you have to carry everything up 4 flights of stairs. If that everything includes a stroller, you're not in a good position. Also, it's not exactly the safest part of New York City and that's something to consider when kiddies are involved.
