I would. It's a quiet neighborhood where kids can bike up and down the streets with little fear. I grew up there. It is very middle class, so you do have some students using free and reduced lunch and some kids who's parents make millions and then the majority of the students right in the middle all going to the same high school. It's a bit of an odd mix.
For traffic and commuting, it depends on where you want to commute to. If you're commuting to downtown its about a 20-30 min drive (depending on traffic) or you can bike. If you're commuting to Bolder its going to be a 45 min commute.
Wheat Ridge High School does have some really good programs. Their STEM/STEAM program just raced 2 hydrogen fuel cell cars against colleges in the Shell Eco Marathon and came in third in the prototypes (

Keep in mind this is a car that the high school kids designed and built and then entered into an international competition. They are one of the few high schools doing this in the state, and this give the students a leg up when applying to colleges.
