White Plains has a high walkability ranking. Some residential areas are within walking distance to Downtown. Many other residential areas are accessible to downtown either by bus or local taxi services. In the heart of downtown the Ritz Carlton and Trump City Center condominiums make urban living a pleasure surrounded by a suburban setting.

Absolutely, bus service is available at every major intersection. If you live in the suburban neighborhoods it may be a short walk to the main intersection in order to catch a bus. If you live near the city center of downtown or any of the areas near downtown walking is a great option.

I think so. They seem to have a good bus system, and Metro North can take to Manhattan and the Bronx.

I guess it depends on how far out of White Plains proper you live, but I would lean to the yes side. Unless you are on the outskirts of town in a private suburban home, everything really is in reasonable walking distance. And that is true especially if you live near the center of town which has just about everything you need in a very small radius including a plethora of restaurants, supermarkets, businesses, services, a library, a post office, etc all You will find all of those things within a square mile or so. Also, there is an excellent and pretty reliable bus system as well as a slew of reliable taxi services.

I think if you are used to driving, you would be happier having a car. I could go on and on about why but if you are curious, you can contact me directly. Let's talk.

One of the best things about our lovely City is that everything is at your finger tips: certainly if you live in the downtown area it is all within walking distance. Grocery stores, two malls, a 15 screen movie theater, live performing arts center, library, amazing restaurants at all price points including many pubs with outdoor cafe dining, and an endless array of shopping opportunities. If you live in one of our many surrounding neighborhoods outside of the downtown, you have a choice of bus as mentioned above or cabs.
