"Another interesting mix"

This is another area large enough that it can’t help but be an interesting mix of properties. Businesses, residences. Low income, middle class. Green and leafy, bare burning concrete. Well-maintained, in poor repair. And other reviewers have noted the ethnic and cultural diversity in the area that makes Woodbine such a joy to visit.

When it comes to Nashville’s Flood of 2010, I can come closer to making a blanket statement—but even here, it can’t quite be done. _Most_ of Woodbine, as mapped by StreetAdvisor, escaped the worst of the flood. There’s one little area down around Glenrose and I-24 where two little streams run into Mill Creek. That area was hit pretty badly.

I was impressed to learn that Woodbine now has its own Farmers’ Market. In its first year, the market is currently a part-time affair. It’s open from July-October, on Tuesdays, from 4pm-7pm.

The Woodbine Farmers’ Market is located at the Coleman Park Community Center, at Nolensville Road and Thompson Lane. Their website says a Spanish translator is available.

On a final note, please know that, unfortunately, public transportation barely exists in Woodbine. MTA’s route 12 runs up and down Nolensville Road, and that’s all.

"Small Slice of Nashville"

If you are not from Nashville and are looking for a area to move to, this would not be the area that you would want to move your family to. Instead of moving to the area, it is a nice area for your family to visit on a day out. There are a number of small parks that you can visit as well as some stores to shop in.

One of the area restaurants that draws a number of residents of Nashville to is the La Hacienda Mexican restaurant. The restaurant has a number of authentic Mexican meals that can be enjoyed either in the restaurant or on the balcony or patio. The weather in the area is nicer at night as it cools off into the 60's at night during the summer and during the winter, the weather is not bad until well into January. You can still enjoy a meal on the patio in the middle of winter as well.

The Nashville Zoo is not to far from the Woodbine area. The Nashville Zoo houses a large number of animals as well as different varieties. The animals can be seen year round but with some animals, you will be more likely to see them in the hotter months during the Summer and early fall than you would be to see them during the colder months. The colder months are going to keep the number of animals limited to the number of animals who are able to tolerate the colder air.

The other stores in the area that you may want to visit are just some thrift stores that carry a large number of items as well as the Family Dollar and the Dollar General. Down the road from the Nashville Zoo is the Wal-Mart and Kmart. Further down the road is the bigger Wal-Mart as well as the Lowes Home improvement center. In the area is the Pizza Hut as well as other smaller restaurants such as CeCe's Pizza and Sweet Tea family restaurant that specializes in home cooked meals.

"A strong working class, international neighborhood"

Woodbine is a very strong, diverse working class neighborhood. It is sometimes referred to as Nashville's little United Nations, because it has a lot of Hispanic, Ethiopian, Somalian, and other nationality residents and restaurants and retail establishments. The boundaries are Nolensville Rd., Thompson Lane, and Glenrose Avenue.

One of the best restaurants in the area is Taqueria La Hacienda, which has been there for years.
Not too far away down Nolensville Road is the Nashville Zoo. Woodbine Community Organization offers English as a second language training, homebuyer assistance, and homelessness prevention by helping renters avoid eviction and helping people find affordable housing.
