Why should this neighborhood exist?

In a city where housing and rent prices are through the roof, a neighborhood this close to downtown should not have single family lots sized over 10,000 and 20,000 square feet. Notice how few cars use the ample street parking. This neighborhood makes everyone else in the city worse off by hoarding land (a uniquely inelastic resource). Shame on it and everyone who lives there.
