"serene, friendly street with some down to earth people"
I used to visit friends on this street very often, even though I was living 30 mins away at the time. It is very quiet on this street and is a good spot to relax because there is not much going on. The other people living in the area are either college students rooming together, or families. this surprised me because it is relatively close to the UCF (about 10 mins if you drive fast).

"Neighborhood Behind UCF"
I lived in this neighborhood while I was attending the University of Central Florida. This neighborhood is behind UCF, but not close enough to UCF to walk to the school. It's still a 15 minutes or more commute because of the school access roads. There are no access roads to the school inside of this community. You will need a car in order to get to the school.
The neighborhood is very quiet despite its proximity to UCF. All of our immediate neighbors were families with children or retirees. The college students that live in this neighborhood are mostly married couples who own a house or groups of college students living as roommates in a house.
There are some bars, restaurants, and shopping in the nearby area that cater to college students and families. There is more than enough variety to find whatever you are looking for. However, if you what you are looking for is not nearby, (like a job), it is a very loooooooooong congested commute to get to where you want to go. This neighborhood is on the eastern fringe of Orlando and everything not located near the college is at least 30 minutes or more away from you. The traffic on this side of town is horribly congested once you leave the neighborhood. There is constant new development in this area so the traffic congestion continues to worsen as time goes on.
