"Residential right next to the arterial"
NE 143rd keeps a low profile: quiet houses and apartments, a slightly winding demeanor, shady trees from the yards. But it's only a block south of 145th, giving great access to I-5 and to Bothell Way / Lake City Way.
It's not the most glamorous neighborhood in Seattle, but it's relatively inexpensive, well-located, and peaceful. I see families walking dogs or just out for a jog, kids playing in yards, kids and adults riding bikes.
I sure wouldn't mind raising my family in such a neighborhood: close to resources, but quiet enough to hear yourself think, and green enough to breathe easily.

"Residential, Plus Upscale Commercial!"
From Wedgewood south to the University District, 25th Ave NE is a light arterial that runs through middle-class older homes, with the occasional gas station and light commercial corner. The true highlight of 25th is it’s southern terminus along the west edge of University Village. Kitty-corner to the University of Washington, U. Village is one of Seattle’s premier upscale shopping centers.

"A street of changes!"
I used to live nearby a few years ago, but haven't been here for a while. Then I drove by just the other day and wow - I barely recognized it! There are new building and condo developments going up all over the street. However, there is still that section between NE 55th and NE 65th that has all the "old" houses, that retains the feeling of the residential area.
I used to walk down this street on my way home from work, and it's a nice, safe street to do so on. The area near 65th has recently put in some restaurants, and University Village (a great, big outdoor shopping mall) is also on the street. The only real complaint that I have is that the traffic here can be a NIGHTMARE!!! Especially when the University is having a big game or event! So avoid this street during football season, student orientation, etc. or you will sit in traffic for hours!
