"So close yet so quiet"
Fairlington is a nice neighborhood that's really close to many major areas. A walk to Shirlington, 8 minute bus to the Pentagon, 40 minute drive (in rush hour!) to DC, can't really complain about location.
Area is also nice to reside in because of safety. Car theft is an issue but personal safety is never a concern.
30th street is almost in the center of Fairlington. The main community center is on the street, as are six tennis courts and two pools.
Great for tots with multiple playgrounds and elementary school within sight. Schools are so-so but area isn't really meant for people with older children (all condos and townhomes.)
Area is somewhat overpriced (but what in DC isn't?) HOA does provide excellent amenities for the money.

Of course overpriced is in the eye of the beholder. Those just looking to buy will be impressed with all that Fairlington has to offer, its convenience (as mentioned in the review) and should find the prices fair considering what you get. A three level 2 bedroom townhome with patio for around $400K and so close to DC? A good deal, I think.
