"Best street in Bushrod!"
This street is the perfect blend of old and new. We have about 1/3 of the street who've been here for +30 years and know the good and the bad times. (The bad times were the late 80s and early 90s.) Then there are the 1/3 "White liberal freaks" who moved here in the 2000s. I say this with the deepest of love. They saw how great the neighborhood could be and they wanted to be in a diverse community. Then after 2015, a group of young families moved on to our street. It seems like everyone new is pregnant.
Pros
- Dog Friendly
- Kid Friendly
- DIVERSE! We've gotcha covered.
Cons
- the sidewalk needs new concrete. Good luck with your stroller.
- You can hear the BART trains.
- Bad reputation from 1990s

"The best emementary school is on this street!"
63rd street is home to a great and unique Oakland Public school. Peralta Elementary was a year round school when I attended (a long, long time ago). The neighborhood is very family oriented, as the school works with the community. Well kept home with a lot of great Oakland history. Close to the 40 bus line (runs to Berkeley and East Oakland), definitely waking distance to UC Berkeley, BART, the Ashby Flea market, College Ave, Whole Foods and Alta Bates hospital.
