Barton Springs Rd
"The fun filled road to the Springs!"
First of all, Barton Springs park and pool located on this road are one of the most amazing places to visit in Austin. Being inside the long pool, especially facing the natural rock wall, makes you feel like you're on some remote wild retreat... until you see the Austin skyline over the treetops. The park is a child's dream, with an enormous series of connected playgrounds, a kiddie train ride, and carnival food vendor. Leading up to Barton Spring Road's main attraction, however, are a lot of great local places to chill out in. Flipnotics is an excellent cafe, with its own ecletic clothing store downstairs. I had an iced mocha latte there on a hot day that was simply to die for, and I love the old wood sitting rooms and outdoor shaded patio. Also notable is Shady Grove, a burger & margaritas type place with an airy brick patio punctuated by large twisty trees. This place is always crowded, with everyone from hipsters to toddlers, grandparents and teens gathering for a good meal in a great atmosphere.

Barton Springs Rd
"Busy road, but it leads to greatness"
I always get excited with I turn onto Barton Springs Road off Lamar because I know the springs (namesake of the road) and Zilker Park are nearby. However, there is more to Barton Springs than the fabulous recreational opportunities. The street is lined with eateries, including Romeos, a great Italian restaurant, and there are also cultural venues as well, such as the Palmer Events Center.

Barton Springs Rd
"Barton Springs Road Is The Real Austin"
Barton Springs Road is home to some of the most famous restaurants in Austin. The original Chuys is here - the one made infamous by serving the underage Bush daughters! Also here is Shady Grove, featuring the coolest patio in town and live music on Thursdays. Rounding out the list is Baby Alcapulco's, Romeo's, Green Mesquite, Uncle Billy's, Austin Java, Flipknotics and a few others. This is a great alternative to the brashness of 6th Street. This gateway to Zilker Park is super laid-back and casual.
