"Idyllic Suburb of Silicon Valley"
Los Gatos is a lovely town, and undoubtedly a lovely place to grow up. The beautiful, leafy suburb is close enough to the rest of bustling Silicon Valley that any IT professional can get to work in a heartbeat - without having to live in the perpetual traffic. Bear Creek Road has a beautiful suburban road - winding, but not nauseating, hilly, but not mountainous. As it is located in the foothills, it offers the ideal blend of suburb and more urban life.
Judging by the cars that are driven - you're more likely to see new BMWs than used Hondas - it is a very, shall we say, un-cheap area to live. The homes are offset enough from the road that they cannot explicitly be seen, and there is quite a bit of breathing room in between houses (unlike many of the neighboring towns). There are plenty of hiking trails nearby.
The Presentation Center is located nearby, and is a beautiful, sunny, hillside venue with expansive windows and great lawn space. The food is delicious, the coffee flows like a river, and the Catholic nuns who run the center are very friendly.
If you like nice views, nice weather, and nice suburbs, and can afford to live here, I would recommend it.
