"Awesome Drive!"
Route 12 takes you through the western, and slightly less crowded portion, of California's Wine Country. This is quintessential Sonoma County at its finest. The road takes you through the sun-drenched valley, allowing for plenty of stunning views of the neighboring hillside.
You won't be hurting for wineries - just be careful not to hit them all! Roadside stands line the streets, and the wineries beckon you to come into their tasting rooms. Any seasoned wine drinker, or thirsty tourist, could stay busy for months on end.
While this is a popular road, the traffic is not horrific. The long, flat expanse could make for some great biking, although the spread makes it less ideal than some other spots for bike and wine tours. Unlike other parts of the county, cell phone reception is not a problem.
