"Noisy, high traffic street in good neighborhood"
Cahuenga Blvd, between Magnolia & Lankershim, is a high traffic, but otherwise safe street, in a safe neighborhood.
It is less than 1 mile away from the North Hollywood Red Line station and is very close to the North Hollywood (NoHo) Arts District, Toluca Lake, Burbank, and Universal Studios. There is plenty of shopping within driving distance, not to mention an excellent used book store, The Iliad, within walking distance (Cahuenga & Chandler).
For the most part, the housing consists of apartment buildings, very close together. The rents are reasonable for a safe neighborhood in the Los Angeles area, with a 1 bedroom apartment going for $1,000 - $1,200 per month. The apartment buildings are rather close together. This means that even if the tenants in your own building are reasonably quiet, there can be a lot of noise from neighboring buildings.
The street itself is rather pleasant, aside from the traffic. There are plenty of trees and sidewalks and the Chandler street bike path is very close by.
It's not a bad place to live, if you don't mind 24/7 traffic noise and rather noisy young single people out in the evening.
