I believe in 2011 an ordinance was passed that allows up to 8 chickens per lot if you get a permit (see: http://www.denverurbanhomesteading.com/new_page_3.htm). We have 3 hens we got from a farmer in Littleton and they are full of personality, easy to care for and just fun to have around!

I have a friend in Aurora who has been trying to convince her city officials to let residents have several chickens. So far no luck though. I think it's a great idea for people to have fresh eggs (or meat) right in their backyard.

HeatherS I guess its the roosters that really irritate people but I too hope to see the laws against chickens in the suburbs or even city go away or at least soften--
