My suggestion would be either Keystone or Copper Mtn. Both have excellent beginner terrain and ski schools. On top of that, they have nice little villages at the base and are close to Dillon/Frisco. If you friends are coming from out of state, then they deserve to have the full mountain experience.

I will vote Eldora too, and its an easier drive and less expensive than Summit County, save the big guns for when you are practiced up!

Eldorado Springs is close and is a nice, quaint ski resort!

Loveland's ski resort has slopes for all levels of experience, including the "bunny" level. It's less than an hour from Denver.
