How does the Loveland ski area compare to other ski resorts in Colorado?

It seems much smaller and more personable than resorts like the ones in Telluride or Vail, which I consider a good thing. :)

Loveland is a great area for the quick trip up to ski with no frills. There is a good variety of terrain and will challenge all levels. The only thing I will say is that it gets pretty cold there as the sun dip behind the divide so I usually plan to be off the slopes by 2:00. This also helps beat the traffic on the drive down the mountain.

The thing I like about Loveland is the close proximity to Denver and Boulder. It is about an hours drive and you get off the highway before all the Eisenhower Tunnel traffic. The skiing is mostly above tree line, so there are a lot of wide open spaces. You can often have runs entirely to yourself. The price is reasonable as well. The only negatives are: it can get very windy and you do not have a town or resort attached or very near by. So it really is more of a day trip ski area.
