In general, prices tend to get higher as you move closer to the center of town, and drop as you go further out. There are, of course, plenty of variations within that, accounting for different neighborhoods, etc. But in terms of the big picture, 300K will buy you a very very small house that needs a lot of work in Washington Park or Bonnie Brae, and it will buy you a relatively new, relatively large two story home with a full basement in Parker. And lots of variety in between. So it all depends on what's important to you. And yes, as Wade said, best to sit down with a real estate professional and look at all of the options.
