East 22 St
"The Majesty of the Flatiron Building"
East 22nd street is a residential street, but is home to one of the greatest pieces of architecture the city, and the world, has to offer: the world famous Flat Iron Building. I’d never seen the building in person, only in those fantastic black and white photos sold all over the city. A friend of mine grew up across the street from this building, and always remarked how beautiful it was, how challenging it was to build, and what vision the architect must have had. My friend wasn’t a liar. The Flatiron building reminded me that architecture is art and how much vision the artist must have and a desire to share that vision with the world. It was truly breathtaking.
East 22nd street is close to the following metro station: r/w at 23rd street , and is accessible to many buses. Foot traffic is relatively heavy and it is a good neighborhood for more established people and families .
