East 44th St
"More UN News"
This is the best spot to get a view of the United Nations. This block is constantly filled with protesters and diplomats alike, along with media and tourists. The interesting thing about the United Nations is that it is technically not located in the United States. When the land was allocated for the building following the 2nd world war, one of the stipulations was that it be deemed an international zone. Do you know what that means? If you take a tour and buy something, you will not be taxed. And as soon as you cross on to the hallowed ground, you are no longer in the U.S. You don’t need a passport to travel internationally! This block has a few good restaraunts, but is mainly offices and embassies.
