"Busy Industrial Street"
Given that my auto repair shop is on East Charleston Road, and I have a fairly old car that needs constant TLC, I've spent a great deal of time here waiting. While it's not exactly located in the most happening downtown area, I've actually always been okay. There is a fair amount of traffic on the street, but despite cars zipping by at all hours of the day, it is fairly pedestrian-friendly as well, complete with crosswalks and sidewalks. Further west, the street starts to get more residential, although it remains fairly busy.
One random perk about being here is that gas is *slightly* cheaper than in some other nearby neighborhoods. There are also some nice condominium complexes on this street, which many Palo Alto residents call their home.
This isn't exactly one of Silicon Valley's standouts, but it is absolutely fine.
