"Beachside Street"
East Cliff Drive starts on the east side of the river, and parallels the ocean in eastern Santa Cruz. This street is somewhat of a commuter street, but becomes far more residential the further east you get, offering some lovely, although modest, oceanfront cottages.
Here is the weird thing about East Cliff: it cuts off periodically. Don't try to follow it, because it actually dead-ends, and becomes East Cliff again once you walk through someone's residential yard. It actually crosses a harbor at one point, stops, and starts again. This could potentially be a nightmare to navigate, but then again, as a resident, you will probably get far fewer unwanted visitors than some of your northern neighbors.
Enjoy the ocean!
