"A very busy commute and retail road"
The road can be overwelmed at certain times of the day and at certain periods of the year. From 7am to 9am (MON-FRI) it is filled with student and working commuters. Before and after University of Utah basketball and football games expect at least 30min delay if not more. You will find many resaurants, retail outlets, banks, etc. Going North, you will drive past the University of Utah. Going South you will merge into I-215 (headed South) with options of transferring to I-80 going East or West.
