Is Forest Hill Extension in San Francisco walkable? Can I walk to everything or do I need a car?

Forest Hill Extension in San Francisco is not really that walkable compared to other SF neighborhoods since it is 100% resdiential and hilly. Also, a lot of the things you might want to do require you to go a little ways to get to--such as the supermarket or the library. If you're a big walker and have the time for it, you might be able to go with out a car for most of these, but most people will need some wheels to live here.
