Is it more affordable to live in Loveland or Fort Collins?

Fort Collins and Loveland are only 10 miles apart, so home prices are similar in most price ranges, but Loveland definitely has more homes available in the under $250,000 price range.
Prices on groceries, gas, and other shopping are the same.

I think it depends - there are parts of Fort Collins that are very affordable, and others that are a little on the higher end. Fort Collins has more of the larger city feel - which can sometimes mean more traffic, but also offers more (plus there's the University culture to consider). If you're thinking about living in one and commuting to the other, I there's a lot of neighborhoods in South Fort Collins/North Loveland that are in the same price ranges. Another interesting thing to consider is the school districts. Oddly enough, there are neighborhoods with a Fort Collins mailing address that are districted to Loveland.

There are homes available in both communities within the same price range but you do get a little more for your money in Loveland. Both communities have a lot of homes available for under $250k but that home in Loveland MAY be a bit nicer (better kept, nicer surrounding homes, less rentals in the neighborhood, etc.) than the similar priced home in Fort Collins.

Regarding real estate, your dollar will stretch farther in Loveland for sure, rather than ft Collins, but these are two different areas, so if you want Northern Colorado, but do not need to be in the Fort, try Loveland or Tmnath, Severance...

Generally speaking Loveland is less expensive than Fort Collins by about 10%. This is changing daily though as the market is getting stronger and stronger.
