Gramercy Park - great area to live for a 33 year old professional?

I recently received a job offer to work in the financial district. I'm 33 years old, single no kids. Would you recommend Gramercy as a great place to live? I love nightlife but think that East Village may be a bit loud for me. Would you recommend any other places for a 33 year old professional?
