Are there any areas to avoid in Grand Junction?

Grand Junction is an odd city as far as neighborhoods are arranged; the city in general follows the river, so the "bad" areas are sort of hard to spot. Generally speaking, I've heard that Clifton has had a lot of problems with small crime in the past several years. Smaller suburbs and trailers directly on the river are also frequently run-down, as these are the older parts of town.
