Hyde Park Jazz Fest
Here's another “who knew?” post regarding Chicago's many fests. I didn't know there was a Hyde Park Jazz Fest! No wonder, I guess. It's only been going on for the past three years, and easy to miss since it's only one day long. But what a day it promises to be! This year's fest is scheduled for Saturday, 9/25 from 1pm – 2am. (WOW! 13 hours!) Thirteen venues are both indoors and outdoors in the Hyde Park neighborhood between East 47th Street and 61st Street, and Cottage Grove to Lake Shore Drive. Over 150 musicians including Dee Alexander, and the Orbert Davis Quintet. And it's all FREE! If you love jazz (and in case you missed the BIG downtown jazz fest this year), I strongly encourage you to check out this event. And if you had other plans to be in Hyde Park on Saturday, be forewarned – it's likely going to be crowded and congested.
