Joy Rd
"Nice traveling road if passing through, high drug traffic/pedestrians"
Joy Road is mainly in Northwest Detroit, running east to west from the east-west side divider main street, Woodward Avenue to the Detroit city limits at West parkway in Rouge Park and continuing through the western suburbs of Redford and Livonia.
Joy Road is for the most part a commercial business street with some boarded up businesses and many empty areas.
The Herman Gardens projects, where my family lived for about 9 years in the 70's is now leveled and covers the areas between Joy Road, Tireman Avenue, Asbury Park and the Southfield Freeway (M-39).
many areas of Joy Road have high traffic, both pedestrian and vehicles.
My parents also ran a bar on Joy Road about 5 blocks east of the Southfield Freeway in the 70's and they had numerous issues with the locals such as cars stolen, broken glass in the parking lot and many attempts to sell/use drugs in the establishment.
Not a safe street at night, definitely not for pedestrians.
