"A great place to live! It is beautiful and it is convenient."
Kennison Drive is beautiful. It is located in the Lawsona-Fern Creek historic district. The street is brick and it is lined with towering oaks and beautiful oleanders. It is just one block long so there isn't much traffic. Most of the homes were built in the 1920's and they differ in size and in style. There are also some newer, in-fill homes, that are traditional in appearance and a positive addition to the street. The neighorhood is quite stable with many neighbors who have lived here more than 20 years. There is a neighborhood association but it has not been very active lately. They used to close off Kennison so we could have a picnic in the street. In recent years, because of homes being sold several times over, the cohesiveness of the neighborhood is not quite what it had been. It is still very nice and the neighbors are still pleasant and helpful but there is not as much interaction. The convenience of the location is unbeatable. It lies in the heart of downtown Orlando, one mile east of Orange Avenue/Interstate 4 and one long block north of the East-West Expressway (Rt. 408). It is then just over a mile to the Colonial Mall and Fashion Square shopping malls. It is a great place to live.
