"Great Rental Suburb"
I rented an apartment on La Riv and was happy to be on a street that led directly to Sac State. I found that many of my neighbors were students, or had been students a Sac State. The proximity to the American River levy trail made bike commutes to campus relatively painless. I also rode my motorcycle down La Riv routinely and was pleased with the wide parking lanes which made for good visibility and safety. The speed limit on La Riv is a little high for a residential street (35mph) although the police enforce the limit on a continual basis.
Overall I can recommend living on La Riviera Drive.

"Overall great neighborhood"
LaRiviera is a great street to live on. While I was driving down it today I noticed how nice all the houses are and how nice everybody's lawn was kept. It's not one of the overly rich communities just your normal middle class neighborhood. There's a few apartments along this street with the average rent around $775 for a 2 bedroom. Which is normal for Sacramento, but in my opinion under priced for the neighborhood. The majority of the street is all residential, its not cluttered with a ton of stores. LaRiviera is very close to Sac State University. So close you can ride your bike there ( which a friend of mine does ) The best part is LaRiviera runs along the river. So for those hot Sacramento days you pretty much have the river in your backyard.
