What is the difference between Ridgefield CT and NY (Katonah-Cross River-South Salem areas)?

We're beginning to look for a house. We started looking in NY (Katonah-Cross River-South Salem areas). We see that by crossing into CT (Ridgefield area) many more homes are on the market at lower prices compared to similar homes in NY.

Please explain the differences. Thank you!
